About Ph.D

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:

This program includes the features of the advanced up to date innovative fields in research of the pharmacology. Students who complete the Ph.D. degree track will be uniquely qualified to translate basic sciences research into clinical applications. The areas of emphasis of the program are: (Molecular Pharmacology, Pharmacogenetics / Pharmacogenomics, Toxicology, Nanotechnology, Stem Cells and Good Laboratory and Good Clinical Practice). The program consists of lectures, tutorials, practical with state of the Art assignments, Journal clubs and seminars.

To be recognized nationally and internationally in Pharmacology researches, to promote the discovery, development of drugs and obtaining patencies.

MISSION:

To provide an excellence of academic knowledge, skills, and research, in an interprofessional environment through collaboration with local and international Universities, research centers and Pharmaceutical companies.

§ The program includes: (39 credit units).

-    Obligatory courses: 10 credit hours

-    Elective courses: 4 credit hours

-    Thesis: 25 credit hours

§ Required degree: medicine and pharmacy

§ Required grade: very good

§ Post Graduate Aptitude Test: minimum score is 65

§ Employer's approval

§ Selection criteria:

Minimum score for acceptance is 70% of the following:

·    30%: Post Graduate Aptitude Test (minimum score is 65)

·    40%: Paper-Based Test

·    30%: Ability to do research; evaluated by a scientific committee based on:

-    Statement of purpose

-    Participation in research (publication, participation in scientific events, or contribution to research related to the program)

CAREER FOR OUR GRADUATES:

Graduates of the Ph.D. program will be well qualified to pursue careers in all Health sectors in the community from research institutes, teaching hospitals, governmental hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. Graduates will assume to service in research in academia, industry and/or teaching.
